On October 7, 2026, Eden Brothers LLC announced a recall of Calabrese Broccoli Seeds in packet, 1-ounce, and 1-pound sizes across Eden Brothers lots 1022067 and 1022068 because its supplier told the company they may be contaminated with Salmonella. The notice lists supplier lot W4105, the same lot named in an earlier recall of HOME GROWN sprouting seeds sold on Amazon. Eden Brothers stopped sales of the affected lots and is notifying customers directly; no illnesses have been reported to date.

Key takeaways:

  • Eden Brothers recalled Calabrese Broccoli Seeds in packet, 1-ounce, and 1-pound sizes on October 7, 2026.
  • The recall covers Eden Brothers lots 1022067 and 1022068; the notice names supplier lot W4105.
  • The seeds were sold through EdenBrothers.com and Amazon.com from July 8 through September 28, 2026, depending on size, and shipped to customers nationwide.
  • The company says not to plant, sprout, eat or share the seeds; seal them in a bag and put them in household trash rather than compost.

What happened

On October 7, 2026, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) posted a recall announcement from Eden Brothers LLC, datelined Arden, North Carolina. The notice covers Calabrese Broccoli Seeds sold in three retail package sizes: Packet, 1 Ounce, and 1 Pound. The company says it acted after its supplier informed it that the seeds may be contaminated with Salmonella.

According to the announcement, Eden Brothers stopped sales of the affected lots and is notifying customers directly. "No illnesses have been reported to date," the notice says.

This development follows a related food safety alert. Earlier this month, EAK Distribution recalled HOME GROWN sprouting seeds sold on Amazon (Amazon Broccoli Sprouting Seeds Recalled for Salmonella). That notice named the same supplier lot, W4105, and said the seed had been used by a sprout grower whose product was part of an FDA multistate outbreak investigation. We have also covered the CDC's broccoli sprout Salmonella outbreak investigation, but no public source says those sprouts were grown from lot W4105.

What changed

This is the second seller to recall broccoli seed tied to supplier lot W4105. Eden Brothers says the affected seeds were sold through EdenBrothers.com and Amazon.com from July 8 through September 28, 2026, depending on product size, and shipped to customers nationwide.

The notice lists three items:

  • Packet (Item number SVBRO111-qb1)
  • 1 Ounce (Item number SVBRO111-qb2)
  • 1 Pound (Item number SVBRO111-qb4)

All three stock keeping units carry Eden Brothers lot numbers 1022067 or 1022068, with a Use By date of 2026. The notice pairs both lot numbers with supplier lot W4105.

Who is affected

The recall affects anyone who bought Eden Brothers Calabrese broccoli seeds in the listed sizes between July 8 and September 28, 2026. Because the seeds were sold online and shipped nationwide, buyers are not limited to one state or region.

To check a purchase, look for lot 1022067 or 1022068: the notice says "the lot number is printed on the seed packet or bag."

The notice repeats the standard FDA recall wording that Salmonella "can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems," while healthy people may have short-term symptoms such as fever, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

What it means for shoppers

Anyone holding lots 1022067 or 1022068 should follow the instructions in the Eden Brothers notice. The company explicitly instructs buyers that they should not plant, sprout, eat, or share the seeds, and should not use them to grow microgreens.

For disposal, Eden Brothers says:

  • Seal the seeds in a bag and throw them away in household trash rather than compost.
  • Wash hands and any surfaces or containers that touched the seeds.
  • If you shared the seeds with someone, let them know about the recall.

Eden Brothers is offering a full refund through its recall reply form, after which a team member follows up. Customer Service is at 855-440-2929, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET. Retailers that resold the seeds are asked to stop distribution, destroy remaining inventory and notify their customers.

The background

Understanding this secondary recall requires tracing the regulatory history of bulk lot W4105. On October 2, 2026, the FDA posted an initial recall notice from EAK Distribution LLC covering HOME GROWN brand green sprouting Calabrese broccoli seeds. According to EAK Distribution's notice, its supplier first alerted it to potential problems with seed lot W4105 on September 16, 2026.

EAK Distribution stated that the seeds had been identified as being used by a sprout grower whose finished product was part of an FDA investigation involving a multistate foodborne illness outbreak. On September 28, 2026, the supplier told EAK that Salmonella was detected in a broccoli seed sample collected and analyzed by the FDA.

In broader surveillance, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published an investigation update on September 24, 2026, on a multistate Salmonella Bovismorbificans outbreak linked to broccoli sprouts produced by Evergreen Fresh Sprouts LLC. That CDC report cataloged 32 illnesses across 6 states and 3 hospitalizations, with zero deaths.

Eden Brothers' own notice does not reference the active outbreak, does not name its seed supplier, and does not say whether anyone tested Eden Brothers packets. The CDC page does not say that Evergreen Fresh Sprouts used lot W4105, and no public source indicates that Eden Brothers packets have caused any confirmed human illness.

What to watch next

Two sellers, EAK Distribution and Eden Brothers, have now recalled broccoli seed tied to supplier lot W4105. Neither notice says whether other seed sellers bought from the same lot, so watch FDA's recall page for any further notices that name W4105.

The public record does not show how much seed was in lot W4105, the supplier's name, or how many Eden Brothers packets and bags were sold. The announcement also does not include an FDA recall classification; if one is assigned, it appears in FDA's weekly Enforcement Report.
